Hello,

Welcome to Worth Watching.

Hope you’re having a good Friday.

EUROVISION ENTRIES TO LOOK OUT FOR

The Grand Final is on Saturday, so here’s my mini-guide of songs to look out for:

  • Estonia’s features Tommy Cash downing several cups of coffee, followed by hypnotic dancing and a fake stage invasion. Naturally tipped to do well.

  • Finland’s Erika Vikman song is called “ICH KOMME” (translating to “I’m coming”). I would also recommend putting on BSL during this performance.

  • Malta’s Miriam Conte is that controversial song called “Serving Kant” (now with the word “Kant” removed), but the staging is someone with their legs wide open.

  • Austria’s JJ features the highest note of the entire night. Make sure cats and dogs and not in the room towards the end of the performance.

  • The United Kingdom’s Remember Monday is an unconventional entry, mixing in pop and country. Whilst I think they are strong vocalists, I think the fact that the song changes direction several times means it never really gets going.

  • A couple of shocks in the semi-finals. Australia’s Go-Jo featured a man coming out of a giant milkshake and then stripping, but didn’t make it through. Neither did Ireland’s song, which consists of a tribute to a dead dog.

Eurovision continues to be overshadowed by Israel’s participation, with the country making the (Eurovision is a competition between broadcasters, not countries and Israel’s broadcaster KAN fulfils all the criteria).

Israel’s Yuval Raphael will be performing fourth in the line-up on Saturday. She progressed through the semi-finals, although a rehearsal was interrupted by protests.

Elsewhere, Doctor Who’s Ncuti Gatwa has pulled out as the UK spokesperson for Eurovision on Saturday, with the BBC citing "unforeseen circumstances."

Sophie-Ellis Bextor has stepped in instead.
